In town for business & ate here Tuesday & Thursday nights of the same week. Tuesday was great service. Thursday was HORRID!!! The restaurant was not full but it took15 or more minutes to get water service. Then the waitress assumed the hostess (??!??) took our food order & looked annoyed that she actually had to. Three people in our party one salad, one pizza & salad & one pastrami sandwich & hard cider. The hard cider appeared instantly, before we got our waters, without the requested lemon. When the orders finally came, the sandwich was a burger & was refused and the side salad was a no show. 15 or more minutes later it appeared. I asked for ketchup that never came. The server avoided our table & did very little to correct the mistakes. Then she forgot that the checks were to be separate as we told her originally and also admitted the burger was her fault but that they cost the same. Hey, how about a discount or free meal because by the time my food came my friends were almost done with their meals??? She left the checks without leaving a pen & none of us had one. We flagged down another worker who looked confused by our asking for a pen, telling us our sever should have left one. REALLY, SHERLOCK?? He came back with a pencil. A PENCIL. I politely told him I wasn't signing a charge with a pencil and took great offense like I insulted his mother. He came back & threw a pen on the table and walked off in a huff. What kind of training does this staff receive/not receive??? Management should be embarrassed. The only consistency between the two visits was that the food was very good. If you can tolerate risking bad, bad service, give this place a try. I give it three stars because of the one night of good service & the quality of the food. They are lucky I went there twice before writing this review.

Sunday evening, time to just relax, unwind, and go chew on some food. "Let's try Old Chicago" It was the first time I had been to one of these restaurants, and I was impressed. The decor was nice. Deep fried pickles were sublime! Our waitress recommended some kind of pizza and it was delicious..I would eat that again. Only thing I disliked was the strawberry lemonade I had. It just did not taste right. My friend tried the raspberry lemonade and also was not impressed. So yes! I would recommend the restaurant, just stay AWAY from those lemonades.

Have been here several times. The food and the menu is great, the service on the other hand is not. The ONLY time we have decent service is if we sit at the bar. The rest of the time the service has been terrible. We had a group of co-workers and 4 out of our 5 meals were wrong after waiting 45 minutes for food. When we asked the waitress about it she blamed it all on the kitchen staff and said she could fix our bills. We asked to speak to the manager and when she brought him over she bad mouthed us to him saying we were complaining about everything... Really lady?! We just wanted the food that we ordered!

My personal favorite is the Cheddar Macaroni with Chicken. Their pasta is wonderful! It took a while to get good servers but the last two times I've been there the service was phenomenal! They have come a long way since opening! Eating here, you always leave full and have left over for another meal....making the pricing very reasonable. I would also recommend the Italian nachos! If you have had a negative experience after opening I would suggest giving it another shot! It is wonderful!!!

I normally try to find local joints instead of the chains, but this Old Chicago was very close to my hotel and I know that they have a 5-star beer selection. I was greeted and seated right away and noticed they have a lot of room inside and plenty of TVs. Friday night is a huge sports night and the place was hopping. My server, Juan, was right over to take my drink order and I got a Newcastle Werewolf, which was delicious like everything else Newcastle brews, and the $3 HH fried zucchini app. It took awhile to get my beer, but they were pretty busy. The zucchini was very nice. Lightly breaded and fried perfectly. Then I ordered the meatball and pepperoni pizza pot pie and a side salad. Juan was on time again as soon as my beer glass was empty and this time around I ordered Leinenkugel's helles yeah. I had just been drinking a fair amount of helles in Germany, and it would be nice to taste Leinie's interpretation. At first I thought they missed the mark, but I checked it out on their website and they say in the description that they use American hops to make it bolder. It is definitely that, and had an IPA-like finish. I still wouldn't really call it a helles, but it's a good beer for sure. The Old Chicago menu actually said: Leinenkugel helles yeah pilsner. Well, I know I'm geeking out now, but pilsner and helles are 2 different types. Whatever. Leinenkugel doesn't call it a pilsner on their site. Geektime over. Good beer is good beer. The pizza pot pie was really tasty. I like that they mix some spinach in there and it was stuffed full of meat. Their sauce is only slightly sweet, which I like. Some places go way overboard with sugary sauces, and OC doesn't do that. I had half to take back to the hotel and had it for breakfast with a fried egg and it was just as good the 2nd time around. My side salad was nice and fresh and a nice touch was not only was the bowl chilled, but so was the fork. It's the little things. My buddy, Juan, didn't bring me an itemized receipt, and I wonder if he left something off because even with HH prices, my total only came to $23.61. Seemed a little light, but I may have to go back again and spend more money there. Overall, this is a solid choice in Garden City, especially if you like to drink good beer and not the light fizzy yellow stuff. And, if you like that stuff, they have it too. Cheers!

Went on a holiday monday. No waiting. Great beer menu and the waiter brought us a sampler as were wanted to try something new. Nailed it with what I wanted. Chicago 7 Calzone. Excellent. Very favorable. Had some wings. Perfectly cooked. Waiter was super attentive. Great ambiance even though it was a busy family restaurant. Very pleased. First time there. I will go back!

Service was horrible at best. Our waitress never came to our table until it was time to give us our tickets so we could leave her a tip for doing nothing. Manager served the food while our waitress was busy hugging and kissing her boyfriend by the cash register. Food was good, but considering it took over an hour to get it along with no refills without having to go get a different waitress it was hardly worth it.

I'm surprised that this place has such poor reviews because we had great food, great drinks, and great service from Andrew.

We had pizza and artichoke dip. The pizza is good but I would pass on the dip next time. The service was horrible. Drinks took a long time to come out. My wife ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and the waitress brought out Pinot Grigio. That wasn't the bad part. She then argued with us that the glass of white wine *was* Pinot Noir. So we just asked that she take it off the bill. I don't think she spoke two words to us after that. I can forgive slow service but not incompetence and rudeness.

The ONLY place my family goes to eat dinner. We absolutely love the food and atmosphere at Old Chicago! The hostesses always give my kids (ages 2 and 5) tablets to play with so they stay entertained and my husband and I can actually have a conversation! My kids are always excited to go to Old Chicago so it's the idea place for us. If it's not windy we like to sit out on the patio. They have TVs out there and fire features. Really awesome place!

Food was good. Service was poor. Our appetizer order was not seen on the order ticket so it was boxed up as we left. Not so much the staff's fault. I think poor management. Last time for awhile. Golden Corral seems best as you pretty well know what you getting.

Food was good, same as all the other OC's but the waiter came out and asked us where our drinks were that we ordered. That was a new one. Also, took about 15 minutes to get our order taken. Nice dude but again, not good at waiting tables yet.

Quite the experience!! Service was flawless, huge choice of beer and the food was good enough to go back for, although not completely outstanding. 4.5 stars, rounded up.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I went here with a group of people and we waited 40 MINUTES just for our drinks to come out. Our dinners started coming out before our drinks!! It sucked having my dinner there but nothing to drink. I'll never go here again.

The worst experience ever! Our appetizer never showed up, the server brought us child silverware, the soda was flat and argued that they were different at the bar, my dinner fell on the floor. My card was sitting on the table for 15 minutes before the serve realized I was ready to pay.

We waited a few weeks after the restaurant opened hoping the bugs would be worked out. The food was pretty good but the service was PITIFUL. It took a good 15 minutes for our server to appear once we were seated. She took our drink order and left napkins on the table. One of the napkins dropped to the floor, when she returned with our water she picked the napkin up off the floor and placed it on our table. The wine I ordered was a long time in coming as well. 30 minutes is a conservative estimate. The glass was sticky on the outside as if the wine had been spilled. When our food arrived it was served by a member of the kitchen staff and had dressing missing for my vegetables and no onion strings as stated on the menu. Our server needs to find a new career path or she will starve if she is counting on tips.

i travel through GC quite often and have given this place more than enough chances. its AWFUL! service is poor quality, food is never in sync with appetizers, drinks are always empty , they always forget something...its a small nightmare. and the absolute worst part is the girls working the bar! not sure how they afford to pay their bills with the shitty attitude all of them carry! where is the manager? where is the owner? obviously not here.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
